That money can never buy happiness or love.
At a very young age, I have experienced having someone very dear to me die and leaving money to us. And that hurt so much because I needed her more than anything in this world.

A room with a very comfortable sofa facing a view of the ocean.
Beside the sofa would be a coffee table where you can easily reach your coffee or tea.

Wallet Conversations and Taking Care of Your Loved Ones

I'm sure everybody can relate to this scenario: Feeling so down because you lost your most precious wallet and praying that hopefully the one who got your wallet would at least return the important cards, mementos or photographs inside your wallet. Yung tipong ganito ang dialogue mo: Kunin nya na lahat ng pera, pero sana isauli naman yung mga churva ko. Money is definitely replaceable but the special mementos we keep inside our wallet mean a lot to us.

I have experienced my wallet being snatched from me when I was studying High School in Caloocan City. Fortunately, I was able to get my wallet back because I chased after the thief. That was how important my wallet was to me (and still is), not because of the money inside it (duh barya lang naman ang laman nun) but because I held important cards and mementos there. Until now that I'm a grown up, mahilig pa rin akong maglagay ng mementos sa wallet ko, tulad nang:

• My East West Bank ID - because whenever I see this photo, it reminds me of happy times spent in East West Bank. The photo in this ID also reminds me that once upon a time I wore braces on my teeth.
• SSS Card - because this card reminds of the time I graduated from College. Ang una ko kasing ginawa nang mag-graduate ako from College is to get my SSS card.
• My 2 Health Cards: (1) Private Health Fund and (2) Medicare from the Government - these cards make me feel safe. yon na!
• Credit Cards - Visa, Mastercard and AMEX
• Calling Cards - I keep calling cards of important people or establishments that I might need to contact: Chris' call card just incase I need to contact him in the office; my bank's customer service representative just incase I need assistance regarding my banking needs; my ex-recruitment officer's card just incase I meet a Filipino somewhere and needs assistance in finding work here in Sydney; my gay hairstylist's card so I can always check the salon if he/she is there; and Max Brenner's calling card--hehehe, so that wherever I go, I'd always know if there's a Max Brenner nearby (Max Brenner's card has a list of their branches in their card)
• Driver's Licence
• 5 Dirhams note - from Chris, souvenir from Dubai.
• Lord of Pardon misal - I won't feel safe if I don't have this inside my wallet
• Photographs - (1) of Chris and (2) of Chris and I

Since we're already on the topic of wallets, let me also share with you this forwarded email I got a few years back. This is one of my favorite essays forwarded via email:

Take Care of Your Wallet

"... you don't want all these better-looking wallets. You want
yours, because of how comfortable it is, because of all the cards and
pictures and other stuff in it."

My old Humanities II professor used to tell us that wallets were a
lot like girls, "Dapat mong ingatan, kasi kung hindi mo iningatan, baka
may mangyari."

I know what he means. I just lost a wallet, and I just lost a girl.
You know, it's the same thing. One day, you just realize it's gone. You
try to look for it everywhere, even going back to the places where you
could have lost it. You think, and you think hard, only to come upon a
grim realization: it's really gone.

Of course, you can hold on to some hope. After all, there have been
some very, very lucky (blessed?) people who got theirs back. Perhaps you
could become one of those people. You sit around at home and you hope
that someone would call, and that you would get it back. But then, some
time passes,and you realize that it's still gone, and you realize that
it's time to let go.

The first few days, you turn to your friends for support. Some tell
you you'll be ok, some tell you it was your fault and that you should
have been more careful, and some tell you about their own experiences.
They give you all sorts of advice, none you haven't heard before.

You then go out to find a new wallet, only to realize that you don't
really want a new one. You want the old that you lost. No, you don't
want all these better-looking wallets. You want yours, because of how
comfortable it is,because of all the cards and pictures and other stuff in it.

You go out and carry on without a wallet, keeping your money in your
pocket instead. You throw away stuff that you would have held on to if
you had your old wallet. And then, finally, you find a new wallet you
like and settle in.

You then start filling your new wallet, little by little. It still
doesn't feel as comfortable as the old one, but it's getting there. Then
you start putting in cards and pictures and other important stuff into the
wallet.

Soon enough, there's as much stuff in your new wallet as the old
one. And then, after some time, you feel as comfortable with your new
wallet.

And then you realize that you've almost forgotten you ever had your
old wallet. Sure, you still remember most of the stuff you lost with
that wallet. But then again, you don't remember the hurt when you lost
it.

That's because that wallet you lost is no longer yours. You're no
longer holding on. This new wallet you're holding has all the important
cards and pictures and stuff that you need. This is your wallet.

And this time, you tell yourself you're never losing this one.

None, because all the bills we pay are essential to our lives.

I'm really bad at choosing restaurants. I'm not really fussy with food coz I eat anything. And I'm not fussy with romance either coz I don't go for romantic, I go for intellectually stimulating conversations and surprises. We could be eating fishballs at some park for all I care. But if you really want to make me happy, just treat me to an eat-all-you can dinner then take me coffee afterwards. The best eat-all-you I've been to was at Circles, Shangri-la Makati.

3.Last time you puked from drinking?
My guess would be on my 23rd birthday party at home. Lots of guests and booze.

4.Have you ever gotten drunk in a bar?
Like really drunk? No, never. Tipsy yes, but never drunk.

For some reason I can remember my kindergarten teacher's name but not my 1st grade teacher's.

6. What are doing right now?
Just finished having lunch and taking a break from work.

I wanted to be a teacher! When I was a kid I have this mini blackboard at home and my mom would always buy me chalk. And I would study my lessons by illustrating it on the blackboard as if I was a teacher. And now I'm a trainer :) Dreams do come true after all.

I took this photo while I was being massaged by the beach on our last afternoon in Boracay. I love this photos because of so many reasons:

1. hindi sya tabingi kahit nakadapa ako at minamasahe ang likod ko
2. nakuhanan ko yung Sun na very clear at buo sya in the sense na hindi lang sya sun rays
3. this photo captured some afternoon activity in Bora: a person was swimming, boats were finally returning home and one boat was just sashaying along the shore
4. I was able to capture Chris hanging out by the shore taking sunset photographs--accidentally!!! As you know, malabo ang mata ko so when we downloaded this photo, dun ko lang na-realize na si Chris pala yung nakuhanan kong tao na nagpi-picture-picture by the dalampasigan hehehe.

I choose this photo for my desktop at work because when I see this it reminds me of great memories in Bora. And when I see this photo, it's as if I'm there again kasi etong-eto talaga ang view ko noon na nagpa-massage ako by the beach.

Here's my 2nd Wallpaper, the one I have on my Desktop at home:

At home, this computer is really my play area in terms of blogging, surfing, chatting, etc. that's why I have a lot of icons on my wallpaper. The photo is taken from one of the Princess Hours websites. One of the things I like about that Koreanovela was their use of bears in the series, so when I saw this photo, I downloaded it coz it's sooo cute.

Now my 3rd and last wallpaper, that one I have on my laptop:

Since I seldom use my laptop, this is the most unkept of all computers that I use. That's why the icons are just all over the place. Since most of our wedding paraphernalias are in this laptop, I use this photo (our wedding logo with our prenup photo) created by Chris for our wedding reception as a wallpaper. This photo was shown on the projector screen during our wedding reception, sort of a welcome to the guests. This was also Chris' surprise to me as I only saw this when we entered our reception venue. Meme #2 - 8 Facts About Me

Tagged by Edong and Eve (pareho pa kayong E).

Since I've done this meme before, I thought of a different way of telling another set of 8 facts about me. And this time, I will base it on the things I keep by my bedside table! They say you can tell alot about a person when you see the things around his/her room, so I will show a small part of my bedroom---tada!!!!

Here's my bedside table:

Fact #1 - My Holy Family Figurine (in between our (chris and i) b&w framed photo and the starbucks mug)

I'm a devoted Catholic and I have a very strong belief in my faith. Although I'm not a religious person (read: hindi ako showy), I have my way of praising and loving God. And I'm very loyal to my faith. This was my biggest consideration when I was in the stage of finding a partner before. Kundi rin lang kami pareho ng mapapangasawa ko ng religion, hindi na lang, kahit okay sya sa lahat ng bagay. Although I have so much respect for other religions (nag-aaral din ako minsan ng teachings ng ibang religion for the sake of learning), pero pagdating sa pag-aasawa, my husband and I should have the same faith. Kung ibang religion si Chris, we'll only stay as friends kahit mahal ko pa sya. Mas love ko ang faith ko more than anything else.

Fact #2 - My Noli Me Tangere book

Idol ko si Rizal :) Whenever I say this phrase, everyone would laugh at me. I know it sounds ridiculous coming from me but that's the truth. I really like Rizal. I get a lot of inspiration from him and the things he accomplished when he was still alive. And for me, one of the greatest books I've read is the Noli Me Tangere which has to be near me coz I always read it whenever I feel like it.

Fact #3 - Photographs of Chris and My Parents

The three most important persons in my life are Chris and my parents that's why when I wake up in the morning and before going to sleep at night, I have to see their beautiful faces. Chris and my parents are my most treasured gifts. It is important to me that they are happy, healthy and safe. Their love for me keeps me human at all times.

Fact #4 - My Eyeglasses

I can't live without my eyeglasses especially when I need to read. I have two eyeglasses: (1) for the office and (2) for the home. I hate bringing my eyeglasses to and from work and sometimes I forget, so I had to have two. I started wearing glasses when I was 14 years old. Yes, I was a high school geek! I got my eyes dysfunctional at an early age due to reading books--that's how much of a bookworm I was.

Fact #5 - My Stuffed Bears

I love stuffed toys!!! I still sleep hugging a Stitch stuffed toy until now. Let me introduce you to two of my favorite stuffed toys:

The "I love you" Bear was Chris' first Christmas gift to me when we became steady in 2002. The bear was inside a canister and he came with four CDs made by Chris and a Christmas card.

The Starbucks Bearista has a female counterpart which I gave to Chris last Christmas 2005. One time, binulungan ako ni Bearista, "Nanay (referring to me), sana dumating na si Tatay (referring to Chris) para magkita na kami ng partner ko (referring to the Starbucks Female Bearista). Oh ha? ang sweet diba?

Fact #6 - My Stitch Figurine

I love Stitch!!!!! And this small figurine is very special to me because this came from a cute little boy named Patrick! Here's the story behind this little character: Patrick (my 6 year old cousin) when to Disneyland Hongkong with family. At the onset of the trip, he asked his mom, "Mom, where's Ate Ivy? How come she's not with us?" Apparently, the little boy was used to having me around during their family trips because I stay with them at home. My Tita said Patrick missed me a lot during their HK trip and since they arrived in Disneyland, he never stopped saying "Mom, we have to buy Stitch for Ate Ivy." And so he bought me this!!! :) I was so touched he remembered :)

Fact#7 - Johnson's Baby Bedtime Lotion

I love love the smell of this baby lotion especially before going to sleep. I'm not used to putting lotion before going to bed (I'm actually very lazy to put anything on my body before going to bed) so I put it beside the bed so I'll have no choice but to put some on even if only on my hands.

Fact #8 - Chapstick Classic Lip Balm

I can't sleep without putting lip balm or petroleum jelly on. I'm such a lip gloss/lip balm girl, I really can't live without it. Makalimutan ko nang i-mosturize lahat wag lang ang lips ko hehehe. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night just to put some on--I know, I know--OA na ito!!! :) Basta, anytime, anywhere, kailangan may lip balm---I hate chapped lips.
