MNG Sale

Selected items at Mango on sale!

Since I can't go to the city this week, the Husband left work early Friday afternoon and dropped by the Mango store at The Galleries Victoria to buy me a couple of shirts. Thank goodness for the technology of video call--that saved both of us a lot of time from figuring out what I wanted (I'm very choosy when it comes to colors). Thanks Husby for the monthsary gifts :).

I Embrace Boredom

That was my mantra yesterday. I've been off work for two weeks and as much as I'm grateful that I'm given a chance to recuperate in peace (no calls from the office about work), I miss being productive and on-the-go.
How do you know when I'm bored at home? I practice putting make-up. And that's what I did yesterday.

During school holidays (high school and college), when I'm bored at home, putting make-up on is one of my past times. Yesterday, I guess I was really bored. For the first time in a long while I practiced putting eyeliner on top of my eyelids. I was trying to achieve the smoky look. I'm not sure I achieved that...but one thing I found out is that dark gray eyeliners make my eyes browner. Sorry about the photo, poor lighting inside our room and I haven't cleaned mirrors for some time (that's the white blotches). I just realized now that I should've just used the point & shoot camera.

In the afternoon, I had this for afternoon tea.

Cheese and olives. Nilagay ko pa sa toothpick eh pwede ko namang kainin straight from wherever they came from. That's how bored I was hehe.

Today's my last day on sick leave. Next week, I start work. I'm having mixed feelings about it. I'm really grateful I was given time off to recuperate (with pay hehe) but a part of me miss being "me". I'm afraid to admit that I miss work but I do miss it. And I miss going out!!!!

Husband's coming home early from work today and he's taking me to see "Avatar" as a reward for being a good girl. Yay!

Saturday in Monochrome

Black and White. A classic combination and a favorite of mine. I remember owning my first monochrome fashion item years ago--a black and white bowling bag. That started my love affair with monochrome pieces.

Some days, I'd pair it off with red shoes for some color. But since I can't wear colors at the moment, I reunited with a pair of monochome shoes that I seldom use.

And strut my way to one of my best gal's party on Saturday afternoon.

Ensemble: H&M shirt, pin-striped Valleygirl pants, Confetti shoes.  Jewellery: Pearl earrings and bracelet, DKNY watch.

My First "Marc"

Special delivery yesterday morning. Surprised that it arrived this week. Even the Husband commended on how quick it was processed and delivered.

I call this my first ever MARC.

It's one of Marc Jacobs' tote bags in Ruby Red. In photographs, it does look red but in actuality, its color is deep/rusty orange. I find it cool that way.

A big tote bag compared to my other tote bags, it can pass as an overnight bag coz I tend to travel light. And I can use this a camera bag too.

H&M Gray Jacket

My Husband calls this my Michael Jackson Jacket...whenever he sees me wearing this, he teases me to sing "Beat It".
He can tease me all he want but I don't care. I love this jacket and if it ever somehow reminds him (or other people) of MJ's wardrobe, then that makes me happier (I'm an MJ fan anyway).

Reasons why I love this H&M Gray Jacket:
(1) It's from H&M and it's one of the many things I bought when we were in Dubai last year. H&M has great stuff, some were created by famous designers (i.e. Comme des Garcons) and yet they sell their clothes at reasonable prices. I wait for the day when Sydney will have an H&M branch here.
(2) The jacket is light and has a flimsy look but can be worn during early Autumn and Spring season. Even with the seemingly thin fabric, it amazingly brings warmth during drizzly weather.
(3) It's gray! It goes well with a lot of colors :)
First photo by Chris Sanchez. Second photo by Jon Dael. Shot at Darling Harbour (6/11/09).

Extra news: I was able to try Nikon's D700 last night...it was spanking hot!

No, I'm not making the switch, but it's nice to get to know other cameras and learn about their technology too.

Sakura Egg Bag by sashiko design

Discovered this red egg bag during the Floriade 2009 Festival. It caught my eye because of it's shape, simplicity and versatility. Just like the candy bag chain I discovered a few months ago, it can be worn two different ways: as a handbag....

or a shoulder or sling bag.

It's called a Sakura Egg Bag, designed by a Japanese woman who named her store sashiko design. All her bags are handmade but durable. sashiko design has a gallery/studio in Hobart, Tasmania but for Sydneysiders, their products are being sold at the Object store in Bourke Street, Surry Hills, Sydney. You can also shop online via http://www.sashikodesign.com/store/index.php. They ship internationally and offer free gift wrapping.

The Candy Chain Bag

Found this bag at Sportsgirl, an Australian clothes and accessories shop. It's called a Candy Chain Bag and I love it because it can worn in two different ways.

It can be worn as a shoulder bag.

And it can also be worn as a sling bag.

The bag is versatile--can be used from semi-formal to casual events; and has a lot of room inside for a wallet, point and shoot camera, mobile phone and some toiletries.

This is definitely my favorite bag at the moment.

Thank you, Amazon!

Some things I buy via Amazon because either what I want are not sold here and/or it is cheaper to buy online.

Thank God that before the Australian dollars went down three or four weeks ago, I was able to purchase these:

LeSportsac Backpack and Shoulder Bag

I've been wanting to buy these LeSportsac bags everytime I make a stopover at Singapore and always, I would forget to buy at least one item from their store. I had about four stopovers in Singapore in the past two years already and the last time I was there, my last stop at the airport was at the cosmetics store. So now that I don't have plans of having any stopovers there and found out that Sydney doesn't have LeSportsac stores, I decided to buy via Amazon. I love LeSportsac for their funky and colorful designs.

lovemarks by Kevin Roberts

I discovered this book via Chris' workmate and found the book very inspiring. The book talks about brand marketing but the concepts Kevin Roberts shared in his book can be useful for those wanting to start a business. It also relates to customer service and could be a tool for improving attitude in the workplace . I love love love it! I saw this book at Kinokuniya sold for AUD$40++ but when I checked Amazon, it's about 60% less than the price here---and it's the expanded edition and brand new!

Thank you, Amazon!
