Tag: Q&A Game

Tagged by Rick of Waiting for Wisdom.

1) A vampire or a wizard (and why)???
I'd rather be a vampire because I've always been in awe of Anne Rice's vampire stories.  I'm attracted to the kind of life they lead.

2) If you could change one thing ab
out you, what would it be - if anything???
My temper maybe

3)
Would you rather live like a rock star or like a president? (in other words: fun or power?)
A president, not because I want power, but because I believe I can do more to create a difference in other people's life by leading and helping.

4) What's your favorite cartoon character???
I like Astroboy.

5) What's your (most) guilty pleasure?
Eating potato chips 3 nights in a row.

6) If you were a song, what would it be???
I would be "Defying Gravity" (song from the musical "Wicked") because I never want to do some things just because it is the norm and based on people's expectations.

7) What's your biggest dream?
To make a difference in other people's lives.

8) Do you prefer to be the one who asks questions or the one who answers them, and why???
I prefer a balance between the two because conversations are great when there are two people sharing ideas.

9) What is your biggest turn off and turn on???
Turn on would be a person who makes me laugh.  Turn off would be a person who thinks and speaks negatively of people and things around them all the time.

10) Have you ever broken any law?
Not that I know of.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Rick for honouring me with awards on his blog.  Thanks Rick!

Cashew Nut Sugee Cookies

Got this biscuits from Singapore as pasalubong from my tito and tita (thank you!). It's called Cashew Nut Sugee Cookies (Kampong Asia Delights).

Not a lot of people know but I'm actually a biscuits person. I'm especially fond of butter cookies and these biscuits from Singapore deliciously tastes like butter cookies only these were made from cashew nuts which all the more makes me love it (because cashew nuts are a favorite of mine). This is indeed a great pasalubong.

Next time I pass by Singapore, I'm definitely buying hoarding these.

25 (Very Very Random) Things About Me

Got tagged in Facebook four times now, so I might as well get it over and done with. Sharing with you 25 things about me, here goes:

1. I cried when I watched "Marley and Me" because I was reminded of my dogs in the Phils--I miss them.

2. People who follow my blog assume that I will always write EVERYTHING that happens in my life. I sometimes get reactions like "Bakit wala pa sa blog mo?". I never answer those kind of questions--obviously, I have no obligation to share everything in my blog.

3. I hate waiting because I hate wasting time. BUT I can endure waiting and I forgive people easily when they're late.

4. I drink pineapple juice but I don't like eating pineapple (the fruit)--the smell makes me dizzy.

5. Misconception #1: that I am a coffee addict. The truth: For the past three years, I normally drink coffee twice a week (Friday and Saturday) only. The only time I drank lots of it (2-3 cups a day) was when I worked in Makati for six years.

6. However, coffee addict or not, I love coffee--I'm passionate about it in the sense that I want to learn everything about it.

7. Misconception #2: that I am a chocoholic. The truth: I can actually live without chocolate or at least survive without eating it for the longest time. The only reason why I frequent hanging out at chocolate cafes is because my husband is the one who can't live without chocolate.

8. However, I do have my favorite chocolates: Hershey's Kisses with Almonds, Lindt White, Cadbury Dream and M&M's with Peanuts.

9. I average about 40 minutes of walking everyday.

10. One of the happiest times I've had at work took place inside the training room where I'm surrounded by my trainees.

11. My principle in getting things done: Do it right the first, all the time.

12. The one person that helped me got over my issues/angst in life was a life guru (life coach) who made me realize my substance, self-worth and potentials, and that I'm capable of forgiving.

13. I don't take pride in having too many things. My goal nowadays is to live simply.

14. In relation to #13, I was appalled to see that I have acquired so many clothes (for the past three years that I've been living in Sydney) when I had an inventory of our closest in the new year. I now have a balikbayan box full of clothes that will be sent off to charity.

15. I drink tea twice a day: organic green tea at 10:00am; vanilla green tea after dinner.

16. I'm mataray but never an iskandalosa.

17. One of my dreams is to have a recording studio inside the home.

18. I'm such a big fan of Madonna when I was a kid that I named our first dog "Madonna".

19. I love "Big Bang Theory". My husband uploaded their episodes in my iPod and I always watch them when I'm onboard the train or bus. Even if I've seen all their episodes a thousand times, it never fails to make me laugh.

20. My favorite character in "Big Bang Theory" is (Dr) Sheldon Cooper. He's sooo funny!!!

21. Husband and I made a vow not to buy stuff related to our photography hobby (i.e. new body and lenses) this year. We have chosen to lie-low on our love for photography for a year or two because we are preparing to buy something big next year.

22. Two things I'm know for in my circle of friends: (1) I call my girlfriends "Hane" and (2) During ranting sessions (i.e. barkada talking about her fight with the bf, etc), I would always be the one ask "So, anong learning mo sa pangyayaring ito?"--para sa akin kasi, walang kwenta ang kwento kung walang aral na natutunan.

23. My most favorite cities in the world would be: Dubai, Manila, Cebu, Makati, Hongkong and Sydney.

24. It took my husband two years to convince me to marry him.

25. I never thought I'd love being married---but I DO!

A Sinful Weekend

It's so hot these days and during the week, I saw Magnolia Ice Cream at the Asian store. I told husband about it on Saturday morning so he indulged me by accompanying me to the store and buy a gallon of Magnolia's Macapuno Ube Swirl.

I'm not a fan of late nights and late night eating. But last night, I ended up baking Potato Au Gratin at 12 midnight.

I was surfing the net last night, looking particularly for Potato Au Gratin's recipe. When I found it, I realized I have the ingredients and so I did it. At 1am, Husband and I found ourselves enjoying my first try of Potato Au Gratin. The Husband loved it :).

Fab Holiday Finds: Red Hot Accents

Red is the dominant color for accents inside the home nowadays. Not only because of the season but because I love red. And as far as the Husband is concerned, it is the only color for the home that we never argue about. Believe me, it's not easy deciding colors for the home when you have an artist for a husband.

Since it's Christmas time, our dining table looked like this on Christmas day:

The Husband and I conceptualized the centerpiece for the dining table. We decided that our Christmas colors would be red and silver. I initially bought the red christmas placemats (cost was AUD$5.00 each) around October.

For the centerpiece, it was made up of the following: red and silver square platter (AUD$20.00), red and silver balls (approximately AUD$2.00 each), silver candle (AUD5.00), silver candle holder (AUD$5.00), tall red candle (AUD$2.00) and red star-shaped trimmings (AUD$5.00).

Other red accents we found for the home:

Red throw pillows for our grey sofa. We found these during the year-end clearance sale, from AUD$40.00 it was reduced to AUD$25.00/each.

A red bean bag. This wasn't on sale but the beans for the bean bag was. The bean bag was about AUD$20.00, while the beans were AUD$11.00 per 500grams. Our bean bag contains 1,000 grams of beans.

Fab Holiday Finds: Shimmering Christmas Tree

Since we're keeping Christmas decors to a minimum this year, we bought a small Christmas tree and placed it on top of our bookshelf located in the middle portion of the house.

Our Christmas Theme this year is Red and Silver, so when we found this shining, shimmering, silver (napapakanta ba kayo?? hehe) Christmas Tree, we knew it was 'it'!

This tree will always be memorable to us, as this is our first Christmas Tree on our first Christmas together as a married couple.

We found this at the Myer Store in City for only AUD$35.00.

Holiday Fab Finds: My Bills Folder

The Filipino Mom Blog's Fab Holiday Finds Week 2

Since we moved to a new place recently, one of my goals for the house is to re-organize my filing system. In managing a home, there are several bills to pay and file. It was timely that last Friday, I found a cute and user-friendly folder where I can file away our bills.

The "MY BILLS" Folder is part of kikki.K's "My Series Organisers"

On the Bills To Pay divider, they stated the Instructions:

As soon as you get a bill:

  1. check that it makes sense;
  2. make a note in your diary when it's due, then:
  3. file it under BILLS TO PAY so you know exactly where it is when you need to find it.
  4. once paid, mark it paid and move it into the category it best fits for easy reference. Simple!

Tabs include: Bills To Pay, Utilities, Health, Finance, Home, Lifestyle Family, Telephone Internet and Motor Vehicles Misc

This is a perfect gift for newlyweds who moved to a home or for those who need help with organising their bills.

Available at all kikki.K stores: Store Locations or you can shop online via their website: kikki.K. Cost: AUD$39.95.

Lunch Box Meme: Green Salad with Tuna

This entry is for The Filipino Mom Blog's Lunch Box Meme.

One of my favorite baon for lunch is making my own green salad with tuna. For today, my green salad comprises of Spinach and Baby Rocket Leaves, Tomatoes and Olives. My choice of dressing for today is French dressing.

On some days my green salad varies when I feel like adding carrot sticks and using a different dressing like Caesar, Italian or Balsamic Vinegar.

Happy Lunch!
