Holiday Fab Finds: My Bills Folder

The Filipino Mom Blog's Fab Holiday Finds Week 2

Since we moved to a new place recently, one of my goals for the house is to re-organize my filing system. In managing a home, there are several bills to pay and file. It was timely that last Friday, I found a cute and user-friendly folder where I can file away our bills.

The "MY BILLS" Folder is part of kikki.K's "My Series Organisers"

On the Bills To Pay divider, they stated the Instructions:

As soon as you get a bill:

  1. check that it makes sense;
  2. make a note in your diary when it's due, then:
  3. file it under BILLS TO PAY so you know exactly where it is when you need to find it.
  4. once paid, mark it paid and move it into the category it best fits for easy reference. Simple!

Tabs include: Bills To Pay, Utilities, Health, Finance, Home, Lifestyle Family, Telephone Internet and Motor Vehicles Misc

This is a perfect gift for newlyweds who moved to a home or for those who need help with organising their bills.

Available at all kikki.K stores: Store Locations or you can shop online via their website: kikki.K. Cost: AUD$39.95.

Recipe: Baked Fish

For a Wifey like me who works during the day and tries to go home on time (4pm for me) just so dinner will be ready by 7:00pm, this recipe is heaven-sent. Not only is this recipe one of the easiest to cook, it is also one of healthiest food you can serve your family.

What you'll need:

3 pieces of Barramundi Fillets (other options: Dory Fillets or Salmon)

3 Tablespoons of Olive Oil

5 Tablespoons of Soy Sauce

1/2 Lemon, squeezed

5 Tablespoons of Water

What you'll need to do:

1. Put all ingredients into a baking pan or Pyrex container

2. Bake in oven at 150 degrees for 20 minutes

Serves 3-4 persons.

I usually serve this with a siding of vegetables. Last week, I served it with a siding of carrots, beans and asparagus.

Weekend Snapshot: Weekend Date with the Husband

For the past month, Husband and I have been spending weekends either with relatives and friends or we're busy buying stuff for the home. So this weekend, we declared it as a Weekend Date, where we exclusively just hang out with each other and stay home and do anything we want (but that includes chores hehehe).

Friday night, we had dinner at The Rocks to watch the lighting of the Christmas Chair Tree. While having dinner we were entertained by a Hawaiian Band and an acapella group singing Christmas songs. It was so lovely. Our Friday dinner date ended us having coffee at Starbucks where I had my Christmas favorite "Toffee Nut Latte."

Saturday, I was pretty busy in the kitchen as I cooked a lot of stuff like Spam, Egg and Fried Rice (I usually cook something unhealthy for breakfast once a week as a sort of treat for eating cereal for the rest of the week), Menudo and Fat Burning Soup. While I was busy cooking, Husband assembled our Tallboy cabinet.

Since it's summer here in Australia, we welcomed the first summer weekend by having Halo-halo and Turon for afternoon snacks.
After our delicious afternoon snack, we had a bit of re-arranging of furnitures. Our bedroom really looks like a bedroom now (Yay!). Now we only need to find lampshades we like for our side tables.

Sunday morning was just spent at the shops for some grocery and a little Christmas shopping.
Weekends like these are priceless. Although we do enjoy spending time with relatives and families, it's always good to re-connect with each other every chance we get.

May you all have a blessed week!

Cooking Journal 6

For the past two weeks, my cooking has been hectic and erratic due to the consecutive two weeks that I had Saturday parties eating out after work on some days due to Christmas/Home Shopping. Of course, there were leftovers to finish off too.

For this week, these are the only ones I remember cooking:

Tuesday (2/12/08): Baked Fish

Saturday (6/12/08): Egg, Spam and Fried Rice for breakfast and Menudo as ulam for the day.
